PLEASE NOTE: we are not taking bookings during the Covid-19 Crisis.

Margaret and Paul Woodman will meet you at Windy Gap when you arrive. They live nearby, and will help you with any questions you have, either before you arrive or during your stay.


Sheets are not provided, but there are 6 single duvets, 1 king-size duvet, plus blankets, electric blankets for all beds, and plenty of throws.

All beds have freshly laundered pillow, duvet and mattress protectors, ready for guests to place their own bed linen over the top.

Please do not remove any of the protectors from pillows, duvets, and mattresses when removing your own bed linen at the end of the holiday.


Electric heaters are provided for all rooms.

Electricity must be paid for via a meter. The meter will be in credit when you arrive. The meter key can be topped up at the Spar shop on Liverpool Road (5 minutes drive or cycle away).

Logs are provided for the open fire in the Living Room.


The nearest shops are a 5 minute cycle or drive away.

Ainsdale Village has a large Co-op and small Tesco.  Formby has a large Waitrose, an Iceland and a Marks and Spencer Food Hall.  Formby Bypass has a large Tesco.  Birkdale has a small Sainsbury’s.  Southport has a Morrison’s Superstore, a large Sainsbury’s and an Asda Superstore.

Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose deliver to Windy Gap – please let Margaret know if you arrange a delivery on your arrival day.

Birkdale village has a good range of independent food shops, and Southport has a Farmers Market on the last Thursday of every month.


There is no WiFi at Windy Gap.

Internet access is available on 4G, but this is not provided.


The following are available at an extra cost:

  • a prepared meal on arrival
  • home-made cakes, biscuits, pies, quiches
  • baby sitting
  • dog sitting
